*(The word often spoken with the wai as a greeting or farewell is sawasdee (สวัสดี, pronounced [sàwàtdiː]). This word was coined in the mid-1930s by Phraya Upakit Silapasan of Chulalongkorn University.[2] This word, derived from the Sanskrit svasti (meaning "well-being"), had previously been used in Thai only as a formulaic opening to inscriptions. The strongly nationalist government of Plaek Pibulsonggram in the early 1940s promoted the use of the word sawasdee amongst the government bureaucracy as well as the wider populace as part of a wider set of cultural edicts to modernise Thailand.-from Wikipedia)

  13. Is this really is it? 1,300 pesos? Just one meal? My goodness...this is way too much! In Thailand, food is something that comes very cheap. :)

  14. I've never tried Thai cuisine. Yung Korean and Japanese cuisine, not much of a fan. I dunno kung magugustuhan ko ang Thai. Oh well, kelangan ko pa munang matikman.. hehe.

Interesting.. pero as usual, I'm in Iloilo. Di ko pa rin to mapuntahan.. Thanks for the share!

  28. and i thought, thai food is supposed to be cheap but tasty? wonder what will the thai spread be to cost so much? Dusit Thani's Cross Over buffet with 4 restaurants in 1 i think costs P1450.. how does this compare ?

    ReplyDelete
  29. hey NINJa: You should put what the thai sawatdee cuisine comprises and post pictures please... as it is... it looks so expensive at P1300 with just a round of soda, juice or iced tea. they should have made it bottomless drinks for that price already!
