I really haven't tried successfully capturing the beauty of fireworks with my camera so when the opportunity presented itself last October 28, I made it sure that (1) I consult my previous photography teacher/sensei and (2) look at YouTube for tutorials on how to do it right. So for this installment of my blog (and it has been quite a while since I really posted an article), I will try on presenting them in a photo-blog format.
I would definitely appreciate comments especially from those who are also photo-enthusiasts. I am no expert to this field, so please bear with me should you not be pleased. But for me, well it was quite an experience.
The event was held at the parking lot of SM Clark. According to an article I read from SunStar
Taytay town, Rizal (Number 7) emerged as winner followed by Bulacan (Number 2), 2nd place; and Oroquieta City (Number 6), 3rd place. An estimate of 20,000 people gathered to view this event which also happend to be the culminating event for the annual Fiestang Kuliat.
The photos are good but from what i've learned in taking photos of fireworks on events, not only that you apply what you know about timing in photography but also knowing where to be when taking photos, especially on fireworks display. ;)
ReplyDeleteI saw the videos of this event posted on the website itself. Super ganda! :)
ReplyDeleteNice set of pictures! Though there are some blurry ones but nonetheless, you did a great job! :D

ReplyDeleteAnd i guess you did yourself a very good job capturing it. .wow. . .we really can't pause the time to make those light repeat itself, but trough your patience and hard work doing it. .you deserve it. .
ReplyDeleteShots are spectacular.. I love how it appears as if you shot it real, real close. :)
ReplyDeleteSuper ganda watching those fireworks lighted the night.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures! I love watching fireworks display! But its always much better to watch it live, I'm sure you agree with that. Those colorful lights and the synchronizations are great to see with your own eyes.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are awe-inspiring! Every time I saw these kind of photos, it feels like New Year's eve celebration again!
ReplyDeleteI have some photos of fireworks but not as good as this. well,I have to take lessons as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the fireworks display. Maybe I should start going to pyro festivals to see what they have to offer
ReplyDeleteGanda ng mga Pyro effects! Your photos are simply amazing- good captures- keep it up!
ReplyDeleteLove to see like that here in Davao. A PyroFestival since we don't have firecrackers/fireworks here during New Year.
ReplyDeleteFor the layman or ordinary peoplle, your takes of fireworks are good. Since you're not a pro photog, don't expect so much for a perfect one. At least, you have them for posterity and for your followers to see, view and appreciate.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to take photos during pyro activities or festivities. Hope I can also get my own shots :)
ReplyDeleteAll your shots are amazing! You did great capturing fireworks at the PyroFest!

ReplyDeleteSome are blurry good shot ,... I also experienced watching this kind of pyro technique competition
ReplyDeleteI'm not really an expert in photography but some of your pics are really good. I think the pics that need improvement are those blurry/out of focus shots. I really enjoy reading the tips and advice from Ken Rockwell's blog. You might as well check his article about taking photographs of fireworks. :)
ReplyDeleteok.. I'll have to give my input, and I hope it helps..
ReplyDeletegujab in capturing the light trails...
Are these photos cropped? or you are just too near that the fireworks?
Personally, I find it very challenging to photograph fireworks..
because I have to constantly adjust the shutter speed or I'll get exposed shots.
My first tip is for you to find a spot where you can see the fireworks with just a little angle from your line of sight.. not too close, or too far.
2nd is to incorporate a foreground, like say if there is a body of water nearby, the lights reflection in the water would be very interesting, the shadows of buildings or people can be a foreground too.
In case you are very close to the source or bounded by a lot of people, it would be nice to capture the faces of people in awe of the light show.
There's more to be done really, but I think you just need a little more practice... way to go!
thanks a lot for the tips
